Lightweight. Lighter. Schnura.
“Lightness is not difficult to reach. Light, durable and practical – that’s the real challenge. “Schnura’s motto is reflected in all his products. And they brought numerous records and awards to him and his designs. Awards like “The world’s lightest stem” and the “lightest road bike brake in the world” were followed by the title „best racing bike frame in the world“, which was awarded by the prestigious trade journal ROADBIKE in 2015. “In order to achieve this quality, Germany was and is essential as a production site,” reveals Axel one of his success secrets.
From cycling to Formula One.
Schnuras’s intuitive feel for carbon has not been hidden for long from motor sport. The Audi, Mercedes and BMW Teams commissioned him to optimize various components for LMP1 and DTM racing cars. Soon, the royal class of motorsport, the Formula 1, showed interst, too: Torro Rosso, Sauber, Caterham and Lotus asked Schnura to rebuild parts of their chassis as well as safety structures. Front and rear impactstructures, headrest, belt fastening systems, wheel suspensions, brake ducts – Schnuras developments were able to withstand the strict safety standards of the FIA with bravura. The decision of the teams to also put the production into his hands paid off: Axel’s innovations lead to several Grand Prix victories in Formula 1 and podium finishes in Le Mans.
